We focus on excellence, offering premier value to our customers.Arcosa Wind Towers is looking for a Weld Technician. This position is considered a crucial resource for general manufacturing safety principles and all welding specific safety requirements; you will train, instruct, and test welders in metal joining and machine operation. As a Weld Technician you will use jigs/fixtures to lay-out pieces to be welded according to blueprints, layouts, schematics, or work orders using manual, semi-automatic and automatic welding equipment to join, surface, fabricate and repair parts of metal or other weldable materials. You may also be required to inspect completed work for conformance to specifications and perform minor maintenance to equipment.Job Location: Newton, IAWhat you'll do:Complying with all safe work practices for heavy weld, assembly, and paint fabrication and act as a safety advocateConducting audits of welding operators and process best practice safety for weldingThe troubleshooting of welding process and equipment related issuesIdentifying areas for improvement and testing new welding processesWorking closely with plant management to track and address welding-related issues.Reading and understand all Weld Procedure Specifications and customer welding requirementsVisually analyze welds to determine welder training needsHelp with class training of new weldersCompleting the required documentation and records as requiredVerification of welding power supply energy delivery (calibration of welding equipment)Comply with all safety rules and proceduresMay be involved in safety committees or initiativesPerform other duties as assignedWhat you'll need:High School diploma or GED is preferred3 years of production welding experienceExperience operating the following welding processes:GMAWFCAWGTAW (Tulsa only)SAWMust be able to pass welding qualification for the above-listed process within 4 weeks2 years experience in the training of production welding operatorsUnderstanding of the following NDT processes: VT, UT, MT, and PTWork under the Welding supervisor's direction with minimal oversight and supervisionAbility to provide clear, explicit verbal directions and create a positive learning environmentThe ability to stand, stoop, bend, lift, walk, climb stairs, ladders and catwalks up to 60 feet as requiredDirect application of AWS (and ASME Section IV codes for Tulsa only) code welding preferredFormal weld training from an accredited school preferredRobotic or hard automation welding system experience preferredWorking Conditions:Hourly position, this position will require the candidate to be available for all four (4) shiftsWork environment includes plant, warehouse, production and non-production areas, and plant grounds which operate four (4) shifts and frequent weekend shiftsThis position may require work/maintenance coverage beyond the normal hours, shift, and on weekends/holidaysAbility to tolerate both high and low temperatures, loud noises typical of a manufacturing plant.Safety Activities:Be aware of and observe all safety practices.
